I think that no matter how many decades the history of computer games is, some of them will never be forgotten. On the plate under the exhibit printed: “Supaplex”; please do not hesitate to copy and touch it (especially since the authors assigned their brainchild freeware status).
I am sure that the developers (two Swiss students, Michael Stopp and Philip Jespersen) initially only wanted to make a kind of hochma for their friends, transferring the BD from the dark dungeon to the unknown world of software. The main character was a very similar computer virus Murphy, very similar to Pac-Man, which seeks to destroy the required number of so-called. “Infotrons”, obviously representing some information, and go to the exit from the level. There remained stones, personifying here, it seems, various firewalls. The role of the ground began to play faceless printed circuit boards. Enemies have become moving scissors, antiviruses and some "electrons", which are also potential carriers of information. Still, a falling ball (firewall) with your help can destroy your enemy for you instead of you, or, for example, block the way.
Very glad that the guys did not stop at copying. First of all, the timer was removed. However, do not think that playing has become easier! Supaplex simply torments the player not by the need to rush, but to ponder carefully. Solving many puzzles is a truly strategic task. No, sometimes hands will have to be tested for agility - the levels are often superdynamic, but overall, Supaplex is much more logic-oriented than its predecessor. Over the course of the levels, you will see many elements that have no analogues in BD. In boards, here and there, at certain intervals, short circuits dangerous to the life cycle of the virus can occur. Some areas have an analogue of gravity, pulling down Murphy: climb up in such areas is possible only on printed circuit boards. Many areas are separated by ports: one-way, two-way, cross-over; conventional and reversing gravity. Diskettes capable of detonation appeared in various colors: some, like stones, fall, exploding when in contact with something, others can be consumed and set in the right place, others move towards any free tile, like boxes in Sokoban, and explode using a special terminal.
The created tools were enough for the authors to create 111 (one hundred and eleven!) Of the most difficult levels. Sometimes the ingenuity of the level builders is simply amazing - absolutely no way to get away from the attack. This may be the only disadvantage of Supaplex ... It is very complex, and not everyone is able to play it successfully, devoting only a little free time to it. However, most likely, because of its complexity and ingenuity, Supupleks conquered an army of fans.
The performance is impeccable! Beautiful (of course, annoying when listening for dozens of hours) music, very neat and pleasant graphics for the eye, smooth animation.
The clear contender for the title of the best puzzle game. I repeat: a brilliant, almost perfect game, quite rightly considered a cult!
