Pharaohs Tomb is truly wonderful arcade game made in the old traditions, which is a remake of the oldest game of the same name of the early 80s.

Your hero is an assistant professor of archeology Nevada Smith, offended by the boss for not recognizing his work. The action takes place in Egypt, where your task is to penetrate the pyramid and find treasures in the tomb of the pharaoh, ahead of the professor.

The game is made in a simple CGA palette - black backgrounds and red ladders and characters - but personally I can imagine it in this and only this way, because this is the real charm of the hoary antiquity of games. The essence of the gameplay is simple, for some, perhaps even primitive (but do not forget that this is a classic). We have to go through four large episodes, each of which has more than twenty levels of screens. The hero can run and jump, as well as throw spears at enemies. A small number are there immediately, but then they will have to be collected. Throwing a spear is possible only from a distance. Initially, the hero has five lives.

There are not so many enemies in the game, each position on the level is strictly fixed (although all enemies are mobile), various traps in the form of spikes descending from the ceiling of forks and other things are much more dangerous. You have to fight with small tornadoes, skulls, strange round creatures with legs, bats, spiders, things in the form of the letter "V" (very unpleasant enemies) and other creatures, you can not kill everyone, and this is not always necessary. Bonuses are represented by treasures (crystals) and keys (keys are needed to go to the next level).

The graphics have already been described above, but, I repeat, such minimalism here is only beneficial - the picture is really wonderful and creates an excellent atmosphere for betraying nostalgia. By the way, although the level here is only one screen, it is often very, very problematic to go through it - because there are many traps, you will have to think (think exactly) too (it will often be necessary to go around something, move some kind of block, then to jump from it somewhere), and dexterous fingers will not hurt, but there are also very difficult levels, where you need to complete a complex sequence of actions to complete it. By the way, in this game you can not only die, but also walled up (!) Yourself ...

The verdict is great. A true living classic of the genre, from which every year you can get only more and more pleasure.
