Algerian Solitaire
Algerian Patience Solitaire – the double-deck brain-teaser that blends classic build-up strategy with free-wheeling tableau freedom 🃏✨
Algerian Patience (sometimes called Algerian Solitaire) swaps the familiar one-deck Klondike setup for two full decks, a six-column reserve, and an eight-pile tableau that builds both upward and downward in-suit. The result? A long, satisfying puzzle where every flip from the stock feels like a mini-plot twist and every empty tableau slot is pure tactical gold. Whether you’re killing time on a phone or settling in for a deep desktop session, this browser-based version runs smoothly in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, or whatever you have handy—no installs, no plugins, just crisp cards and silky drag-and-drop.
Quick rules recap 📝
• Deal six face-up cards to each of the six reserve columns, then one card to each tableau pile (the first four get a bonus card). The rest sit in the stock.
• Foundations split in two styles: four build up from Ace → King in-suit, four build down from King → Ace.
• Tableau piles build in-suit up or down, wrapping K ⇆ A, but you may move one card at a time only. Any lone card can fill an empty tableau slot.
• Click the stock: it adds two face-up cards to every reserve pile—except the final deal, which drops one card on each tableau pile.
• Reserve stacks act like storage silos: lift the top card, peek underneath, play to tableau or foundations—but you can’t build back onto a reserve.
Scoring snapshot 🏆
+10 points — every card promoted to a foundation
-
5 points — every reserve card moved into the tableau
–15 points — every card yanked back from a foundation (use sparingly!)
Strategic starter kit 💡
🔹 Slam foundations early. An Ace showing? Promote it. A King waiting? Send it to a down-build foundation ASAP.
🔹 Protect at least one empty tableau pile; it’s your main lever for re-ordering in-suit sequences.
🔹 Peek the reserve stack: holding the mouse (or long-pressing on mobile) lets you preview the buried card—perfect for planning stock flips.
🔹 When the stock empties and each tableau pile receives one last card, pause and reassess; your final order-of-operations often decides the win.
🔹 Don’t be afraid to undo. Trial-and-error teaches the flow of Algerian faster than memorizing move lists.
Why this version stands out 🌐
• True cross-device play—runs in every modern browser, resizes gracefully on phones and tablets.
• Sleek scoring meter, move counter, and unlimited undos for guilt-free experimentation.
• Zero downloads, zero paywalls, lightweight ads that never cover the cards.
• Instant resume via local save—close the tab, return tomorrow, your marathon run is right where you left it.
Ready to test your patience? Shuffle up two decks, fire up your browser, and see if you can outdo the “medium” win odds to clear all 104 cards. Just remember: in Algerian Patience, every empty slot is an opportunity, every promoted Ace is momentum, and every wrapped King-on-Ace play feels like a tiny magic trick. Good luck, and may your stock flips be ever in your favor! 🥇🃏
