Antarctic Adventure
Antarctic Adventure is a classic of the platform genre, perhaps the most technologically powerful game of its time, a thing that simply cannot be described in words.
And formally - everything is very simple here. The action takes place in the most severe place of our planet - Antarctica. There lives a funny penguin named Penta, who needs to make friendly visits to polar explorers at all scientific stations on the continent, for which, of course, he will have to get around this continent. And this is exactly what remains to be done - but for a certain time and avoiding various dangers.
The "level" of a game is a race from one control point to another (with a third-person view), which must be completed in a fairly short period of time. A penta can run (as well as slow down), hide, and also jump if it is suddenly necessary to overcome an ice hole or crack. In the game, in addition to natural obstacles, there are enemies - walruses looking out of the hole, which you can never get into (although they look ridiculously funny). There are also two types of bonuses - fish and green flags, all this can be collected. True, in view of the time limit, most often this is not before.
In principle, there is nothing more to say about the gameplay. But very little has been said about the game itself. Firstly, one cannot fail to note its fantastic, amazing graphics for 1984, which at that time simply amazed the imagination. Beautiful bright colors, almost three-dimensional (!!!) hero, amazing clarity of drawing even the smallest details. Secondly, this game was developed by none other than Hideo Kojima himself, the future creator of Metal Gear and everything that followed. And thirdly - it’s just insanely fun to play, even though, if you think about it, the terrible simplicity of the game. There is something so warm and dear in it that it simply cannot be expressed in words, perhaps because it (in the form of a version for MSX) was known to us even in the late USSR, or maybe because it was involuntary recalls the wonderful Soviet-Japanese cartoon about the Lolo penguin ...
To summarize, it makes no sense - this is a real masterpiece for all time.
